Oak Ridge Pool & Site Design

This older home in West Buttermilk near Aspen wanted to install a swimming pool, but was faced with significant design and permitting issues because of its steeply sloping site. CRA worked with the owners and county officials to address issues relating to the permit review for sites on steep slopes, including rockfall, wildfire, and visibility issues. The pool project offers a strong combination of planning and landscape architecture. CRA addressed the issues by establishing a series of terraces leading from the residence to the pool area, screening the development from affected parties, and using native vegetation to re-establish disturbed areas. Concept sketches were provided for a series of design iterations, both for the review bodies and the client. This resulted in the necessary approvals and a project that was completed in the Fall of 2003.
