Art Museum

The Aspen Art Museum had been a long-standing community resource and had outgrown its smaller gallery and education facility. On the site of a disputed prior development project, the Art Museum proposed a solution that involved their relocation to the site and putting an end to any outstanding legal issues from the prior development proposal. Clauson Rawley Associates led the land use planning negotiations that achieved this public benefit compromise, providing the Art Museum with a new venue and allowing the prior development proposal a smaller but acceptable alternative. Architecture for this facility was by Shigeru Ban Architects, with the participation of Cottle Carr Yaw Architects. Landscape architecture by BlueGreen. The result is a wonderful community facility and expression of contemporary architecture.
