Aspen Core Downtown Redevelopment

The Aspen Core Downtown Redevelopment Project received final approval from the City of Aspen in 2012 and is currently under construction. The project will redevelop a surface parking lot that had become a poster site for needed redevelopment in Aspen's commercial core. The project also integrates existing structures consisting of an historic resource (the studio building constructed by the late Thomas Benton, a well-known local artist) and a locals' favorite restaurant(Little Annie's Eating House) with the new mixed-use development. Enhanced public amenities will bring greater pedestrian traffic from the Aspen Mall area along this desirable street.

Having assisted its client, Aspen Core Ventures, LLC, to navigate the AspenModern negotiations process, a preservation program recently implemented by the city for post-WW II structures, Stan Clauson Associates assisted in crafting a final approval. The streetscape design by SCA includes Silva Cell technology to enhance the viability of street trees and a specially-designed plaza reflecting the art of Thomas Benton. Architecture by Ike Kliegerman Barkley of New York and San Francisco.
